Aunt Kirby Afternoons

Aunt Kirby is making it a habit to come and steal Mr. from his daycare!

Today Kirby and my cousin Erin came and picked up Carter and took him shopping! I love that they love him so much :-) Seriously, wouldn't most college girls want to be shopping or drinking or just being lazy?! Not these two, they ASKED to babysit :-) Carter is so lucky!

I came home to THIS! (This was going on like 5 minutes...too bad my camera ran out of memory!).

Raspberries!

Hi Erin!

Growing!

Here is a comparison of the last 3 Boob Group babes pictures. Going forward we realize we need to keep them in the same order - opps!

Weekend

I am so slow at update this blog!

I took off work last Friday to attend Carter's Aunt Fanny's (My sister, Stefanie) graduation! Stefanie graduated from Rowan University with a Bachelor's in Public Relations. We are all so proud of Stef - send her some good vibes b/c now she needs to find a job! Unfortunately, I left my camera in my bag the whole time - that just means we need to take pics during her Graduation Party on the 31st.

Well, here are a few of some post-graduation fun. The rain held out and Aunt Kirby and I took Carter to the park for the first time.

Yesterday Carter and I FINALLY met up with the Boob Group, again! For those of you who don't know....the boob group consists of 6 women and their adorable babies! We all met at Virtua Mt. Holly's Lactation Support group. All of our babies are within 3 months of each other (youngest is 6 months and oldest is just 9 months). I've only known the women in this "group" for less than 6 months yet they are my go-to girls now. They are all seriously so amazing and their babies are the cutest. Motherhood is so challenging and it has been GREAT having these ladies to lean on through it all!

Here are all the kiddos in their bathing suits - We are all ready for summer! Sorry the pics aren't great - I was busy trying to keep Carter happy. He was wayyy over due for a nap.

And one more....Here is one of the cutie from this afternoon. Carter just loves sitting outside and listening to all the noises!

Thank You, Peas!

Carter is definitely his father's son. Richard can't get enough peas....and I go out of my way to pick them out of things so I don't have to eat them!

Carter LOVES them. He isn't too fond of plain oatmeal or sweet potatoes but will happily eat them up as long as we add some peas! What a good kid!

Peas are just as easy to make as all of the other baby foods. Well, as long as you buy peas that are already prepared. The prep work for buying peas in the pod is just too much for me! Frozen organic peas from Whole Foods work well enough for me (and Carter!).

Pea Puree
Steam 2 10oz bags of frozen peas.
Puree!
Scoop into 2 ice cube freezer trays & cover.
Remove after 10-12 hours and put into your desired storage container.
I heat 2 cubes in the microwave for 45 seconds to defrost.

....seriously, how could it get easier than that!

Carter at 6 Months

I saw another blogger list out the things her little one loves and can do at each age and I think that is a great idea! So, here we go.

Carter currently is 6 months, 1 week & 4 days old (only leaves me 173 days to plan Carter's 1st Birthday party!):

-Can roll from stomach to back
-Can roll from back to stomach
-LOVES to stand (but looks a little drunk!) but can only stand holding on to us or couch (only for a minute).
-Will sometimes try to crawl. He moves his legs and gets his butt in the air but can't do the arms and legs at the same time.
-Very good at holding toys. He will put something down and pick it back up. Will also switch toys between hands.
-Trying to master the pincher grasp. Loves to grab at the tags on stuffed animals or the bobby.
-He can put his feet into his mouth. Loves sucking his toes!
-Sits up by himself. Will only tobble over if trying to look at something behind him.
-He knows his name and will turn in your direction when you call his name or speak to him.
-He will look around something if it is blocking his vision of you. (Mostly looking around me to find Daddy!)
-He smiles (and squeals) at himself in the mirror.
-He likes to grab onto anything and everything.
-He loves biting faces.
-He loves cellphones.
-He loves computers.
-He loves the TV.
-He sleeps unswaddle with his silky blanket.
-Our bedtime routine is bath with daddy, diaper, massage, PJs, feed with mommy then lights out! Most nights he sleeps from 7:30pm - 6am.
-He is eating between 5-6 liquid meals a day and eating solids for breakfast and dinner.
-Solids he has eaten - sweet potatoes, pears, peas & prunes.
-Favorite solids: pears & prunes
-Least favorite solids: sweet potatoes
-He is wearing 9 month clothing. Surprisingly he doesn't fill it out but 6 month clothing tends to be too short.

I'll try to post some pictures tonight.

Tomorrow is Richard's 35th Birthday! Gram is coming over for some quality C time while Richard and I are checking out a new restaurant to celebrate!!!

50th Percentile

So, we had a little issue with C-man crying on and off all night on Tuesday. I was pretty worried b/c the last time he did that he ended up having an ear infection. So, I quickly got him an appointment at the pedi for Wednesday but everything checked out fine. I am sure they have labeled me as one of those over protective first time moms. Oh, well! I'd rather be one of those then not and have him suffer with an infection!

But since we were already there, we went ahead with his 6-month well check up (yep, sick and well check up in the same day!). Our BIG boy isn't so big anymore! He is well, average (not in our mind!). 50% percentile for height and weight. Upon seeing Carter the doctor guessed he was going to be over 20lbs - boy was he wrong. Only 17lbs 10oz. The pedi said its all the cheeks :-)
Everything else looked good - It's all going to be about solids for the next few months. Introducing new foods is going to be so much fun!

Well, it is more of a pain. Nursing is sooo convenient. But seeing him enjoy the foods is totally worth is! We have changed up the plan a little bit. We want to introduce each new food in the morning but during the week he gets that at daycare - So, we will be introducing new foods every Saturday morning. I haven't decided if it will be peas or butternut squash. Opinions?!

Also, I really think we might have some teeth soon. Something is going on. If it isn't an ear infection, I just think it might be a tooth! He constantly chews on things so we thought he was teething since about 4 months but nothing yet. Between the crying and then not really eating today at daycare.....I think something is up. I am hoping it is teeth and not an illness.

I am off to pick up C from daycare. It is raining and yucky here- just can't wait to get him home and have some snuggles!

Food #2 - Pears

"oh, pears!!"

These early baby food purees are just sooooo easy to make! I make a large batch and put into the freezer. Problem is I am starting to run out of freezer space!

Pear Puree

Skin & core 6 medium size pears
Cut into 1 inch squares
Steam
puree

pour into 2 ice cube freezer trays & cover.
Remove after 10-12 hours and put into your desired storage container.

I heat 2 cubes in the microwave for 45 seconds to defrost.

Pears were a success!

We will try peas next (Thursday). Can't wait to see if he likes them...Daddy loves them and Mommy well,....doesn't!

Happy 6 months!

Happy 6 months to Carter!!! Sorry, no pictures yet....will try to get some up tomorrow.

I can't believe my little dude has been here for 6 months....and at the same time I can't believe there was ever a time when he wasn't here.

Today is just jam packed with good news. I had dinner last night with too of my very good friends.....1 just got engaged last Sunday and the other just announced she is 13 weeks pregnant!! 2 of my favorite things, weddings and babies!! I am so happy for them :-) Can't wait for all of the showers!!!
