Etsy!
Just wanted to share a cool find! I am loooooving http://www.etsy.com/. It is made up of many online "stores" where people sell hand made items. Many of the items I think I could possibly make myself if I had the time BUT sometimes I'd rather just pay for it to be done well and for me not to have to go through the hassle.
I've bought mutliple cute items - all for very good deals. Many of the sellers are stay at home mom's trying to bring in a little extra income - such a good idea!
I am now in the process of purchasing coffee cozy's from PinkGasoline (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=23111285) as presents for Carter's daycare teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week. These stores are GREAT b/c they customize everything! They will change fabrics or add monograms - And I looooove monograms!

Carter's Baptism went very well last Sunday. He was such a good boy all through church and loved being held by everyone! I only got him back right before we went up to the alter!

Babies
As you may have noticed, I've added a few "buttons" to the right side of our page. Sometimes I get on the Internet and I just get "sucked in"....I look at one person's page...then another and another. Well, you may know I am not overly religious but I've stumbled upon a few families that need your thoughts AND PRAYERS.
I literally read their blogs each night and either cry (when there is bad news) or smile (if there is good news). Today I learned that Stellan (Pray for Stellan button) will be discharged from the hospital!!!! But I've also read that Kayleigh is most likely brain dead and will not make it. I cannot even imagine what her parents are going through. I just cry thinking about how I would feel if Carter was taken from us. Today a "guest blogger" wrote on their site and let us know of the financial trouble that Kayleigh's parents are in. Seriously? They are losing a child and also have to deal with losing their house and everything they own....b/c they have a sick child! UGH. This just is an example and why we desperately need a change to our health care system (but that is a whole other post).
Please read Kayleigh's story (http://kayleighannefreeman.blogspot.com/) and hopefully you will also feel the need to help. I have decided to not buy coffee this week. I would normally have spent about $20 a week at Dunkin. Instead, I've donated that money to Kayleigh's parents. How can I possibly "throw away" money on coffee when they are losing their daughter and may also lose their house.
I now want to wake up Carter and give him a big hug and kiss.

Weekend!
Nothing interesting to post - Just wanted to say "Happy Weekend!"
Tomorrow morning I am helping MJ set up floral arrangements at a wedding at Scotland Run....then I get to play OUTSIDE with Mr. C. :-)
Sunday is his baptism. Carter will be meeting quite a few family members for the first time.
Is it bad that all I can think about is the cake we will have from Randolph's on Sunday? hehe. Don't worry - pictures will be posted soon!!
Love,
The G's.

Busy Weekend!
Wow, have I been busy the last 2 weeks! With Carter, work and MJ, I feel like I am constantly running around! At least the Carter and MJ bit are fun!
And last....but not least....Carter went to his first Phillies game on Sunday. While I was at Erin's shower, Daddy, Carter and Aunt Kirby went to the Phillies game. They met up with Aunt Fanny.
Friday night I put together my very first Candy Buffet. Wow, let me tell you, those things are amazing! If I could do our wedding over again, I would totally get one of those.
Saturday was spent setting up the candy buffet for a Bar Mitzvah at Dave & Buster's. It took all of my willpower not to eat all of the candy!
Sunday I co-hosted a bridal shower in honor of my friend, Erin. The 4 other bridesmaids and I hosted the shower at Pasta Pomodoro (http://www.pastapomodoronj.com/). The venue was very reasonably priced and we were treated awesome by the owner. I would highly recommend them!
Erin didn't have a clue about her suprise shower! She thought she was dropping something off to her dad who was supposedly cleaning the carpets at the restaurant. She runs into the restaurant in her SWEAT PANTS.....and was stunned to see us all! We were so glad we actually surprised her - it was great!
And last....but not least....Carter went to his first Phillies game on Sunday. While I was at Erin's shower, Daddy, Carter and Aunt Kirby went to the Phillies game. They met up with Aunt Fanny.
Carter looooved the game and the Phillies actually decided to win for him! He even received a certificate that says it was his 1st game! I can't wait until I can enjoy a game with him. I think our next game is the begining of May.
(It isn't letting me post more pictures so I'll post the Phillies ones later)

Wedding Design by MJ
So, I haven't talked about this much but on top of my "real" job, I am now interning with Wedding Design by MJ. This will hopefully lead me in the direction of my ultimate goal - owning my own wedding business....but before I can do that, I need to learn A LOT about the industry. I want to learn from her mistakes and be introduced into the business from an expert. I think that is a lot safer than trying to dive into it own my own.
I first met MJ when I was planning my own wedding. We met at a bridal show and I've always remembered her (probably b/c she gave out CANDY at the show). When I decided I wanted to move forward with my dream, I knew she was going to be a great person to contact!
I am having a great time so far and am excited about many of the events we have coming up!
Make sure you check our her website - www.mjlovett.com and also her blog http://mjlovett.blogspot.com/
Anyone planning a wedding? Make sure to contact me (or MJ)! She is very reasonable and is willing to work with any budget!
I'll keep everyone updated with how it is going.
Wish me luck!

RIP Harry Kalas
RIP Harry Kalas. I really don't know what to say. You will be greatly missed. I am really not sure how it can be the Phillies game with out you. I really expected them to have no one commenting on the game today...I expected them to just have silence :-/
I will always remember...."HOME RUN, MICHAEL JACK SCHMIDT!"

Savings!
If you know me well, you will know that I LOVE getting a good deal when shopping! I was definitely not always like this...I used to be the one that just walked in to JCREW and picked out something....b/c that was just so easy! My best friend, Ashley, used to get the best deals on everything...but I just assumed it took too much time.
Fast forward a few years.....now that we have a house, a baby and want to move in a few years, I've made it my mission to save $ where ever I can!
Here are 2 good deals I've gotten this week.
1. I use http://www.thegrocerygame.com/. The game is amazing. The idea is that the site gives you a list each week of what is on sale at your grocery store. Then it tells you what coupons you have for those items. The point is to "stock up" on good deals so then you don't have to buy then when you NEED them and they are full price.
Here's an example - Lysol spray cleaner is normally around $4 a bottle. It was on sale at Shop Rite for $1.99. I then had multiple 75 cent off coupons (which shop rite doubles). So, I ended up stocking up on cleaners b/c they were 49 cents each! Last week we got a bag of Hall's cough drops for free. They were on sale for 99 cents and I had a 50 cent off coupon (which doubles)!
They are running a promotion, you can try it for 4 weeks for just $1! If you do, use my email address (leave your email address and I'll give you mine) as your reference!
2. I was in The Children's Place last month and saw all these cute boy's outfits....BUT NOTHING was on sale :-/ So, I waited until today and bought 1 pair of pants, 2 sweater vests, 1 polo, 1 t-shirt, 1 fleece, 2 button down shirts and a pair of socks - ALL for $53 :-P I also found a discount code (10%) at this site http://www.promotioncode.org/TheChildrensPlace I think that will be one of my new favorite sites!

Julie's Adventures in Cooking
I've been inspired to start to pretend to be a decent cook. I want Carter to grow up to appreciate good, healthy food. To accomplish this I am aware that I should be able to cook a thing or two. I'll start posting some of my adventures...
I started preparing for Easter today with a little bit of cooking :-P I am starting out slow but steady!
Inspired by Carter's Nonna, I attempted a bacon and egg strata. It was VERY easy and so tasty!
I started preparing for Easter today with a little bit of cooking :-P I am starting out slow but steady!
I prepared a few things today for Easter Dinner at Mom-Mom's tomorrow.
I used my friend Emina's Butternut Squash recipe (provide by Cristin). I cheated and snuck a few spoon fulls today. It was so yummy. I am so excited to have some tomorrow!
2 tbs butter1 small onion, peeled and diced
2lbs butternut squash1 golden delicious apple, peeled and cored
1 quart chicken stock or water
1 bay leaf1 spring thyme
1 tbs honeysalt, pepper
1 cup heavy cream (optional)
1/4 cup grated cheddar, asiago or fontina cheese (optional)
saute onion, apple and squash for a few minutes.
add stock/water, bay leaf, thyme and honey. salt lightly and bring to boil. simmer for 15-20 min, until squash very soft. remove thyme and bay leaf.
puree the soup. return to pot and add cheese and cream. serve.
And here are just some fun cupcakes :-) Nothing special about them just LOVE THE ICING. YUM.

Happy and Sad
Happy 5 month birthday, Carter! He is getting sooo big - over 16lbs now and this morning we had him in 6-12 month clothing!
Only 2 more weeks until we try rice cereal again (the first time at 4 months was an epic failure) and 4 weeks until he tastes some REAL food! I am excited but always kind of disappointed....feeding is so easy now and soon we will actually have to start cooking :-P
Nona left last night:( It was so good to have her here for 3 weeks. Richard and I definitely ate like kings (and queens) the last few weeks. And Carter loved all the story time with his Nona. Nona is off to the UK to have some time with the Palmers. We hope to see everyone very soon! Maybe Disney World?!?! Just a thought! he he
Also, I am going to pick up a jogging stroller tonight (I LOVE Craigslist)! Hopefully, Carter will love it and I will get some more runs in. Richard, Kirby and I are signed up for a 5k on May 5th - I better be able to atleast finish it!
